Raise a Service or Guide Dog for a person with disabilities!

America’s VetDogs and the Guide Dog Foundation, national nonprofits that provides specially trained guide and service dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities, and people who are visually impaired, are in urgent need for volunteers in the Tennessee area to open their hearts and homes to become a puppy raiser. Puppy raisers will welcome a puppy into their homes at around eight weeks of age and help teach the puppy basic obedience, such as how to walk on a leash, sit and stay, down, and to come when called.

Puppy raisers are encouraged to provide vital socialization experiences for the pup including visiting the mall or restaurants, attending sporting events and traveling by car or public transportation. No prior dog training experience or handling is needed. Organizational Puppy Advisors will support each volunteer raiser through the pup's upbringing and training milestones.

America’s VetDogs and the Guide Dog Foundation will cover the cost of all necessities for each pup, including veterinary care. The volunteer raiser is solely responsible for purchasing the pup's food.
