OVERALL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the breeding manager, the breeder host liaison is responsible for the ongoing recruitment, development, and support of qualified volunteer breeder host homes.  The incumbent is responsible for providing excellent customer service and accurate documentation of all activities related to this volunteer population.  

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:  
Collaborates with the volunteer services and marketing teams to ensure a reliable influx of volunteer candidates.
Implements program of ongoing information and orientation sessions for volunteer candidates.
Guide breeder host applicants through the full application process, including application review, screening interviews, home assessments, and dog handling assessments.
Make recommendations for volunteer host/dog matches to breeding manager, and perform transfer of dog and necessary supplies to new hosts.
Provide ongoing email, phone, and in-person support to host volunteers through the entire host/dog relationship.
Conduct ongoing, periodic education sessions for host volunteers, including online general education and in-person dog handling classes.
Schedule appointments for breeders and breeder candidates, including:
o Veterinary appointments
o Tech appointments for vaccinations
o Spay and neuter notifications for program puppies that have been eliminated from breeding consideration.
o Temperament assessments
o Clinical reproduction activities
o Training classes
o Other events as needed
Manage breeder boarding needs, including the development and support of a robust pool of qualified short-term breeder foster homes
Maintain accurate documentation of all activities related to volunteer host support; including contracts, communication logs, calendar appointments, and other data as required.
Under direction of the breeding manager, perform regular updates of orientation and training materials for all stages of the host volunteer experience.
Assist with clinical reproduction functions as directed by the breeding manager.
Act as back-up support for active home whelps as needed.
Undertake other duties as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

3 years of experience in canine breeding, training, or veterinary support strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward coworkers and volunteers at all times.
Strong attention to detail
Effective problem-solving skills 
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, and prior experience working with a customer relationship management (CRM) software strongly preferred

Physical Demands: 

  The employee is required to: 
Withstand repetitive bending, kneeling and squatting
-stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor
-drive car, van or bus
-lift up to 15 lb. pups regularly and up to 75 lb. dogs occasionally
-exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
-exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or
-exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 

Visual Acuity: Near acuity and accommodation are required for ability to see and read dog’s reaction to environment and distractions, ability to read forms, documentation and computer screens. 
Hearing Acuity:  Ability to interact with dog, trainers, students, volunteers and puppy walkers either in an informal way or giving formal instruction through seminar and training exercises.  
Working Conditions:  The employee is subject to daily outside elements as well as inside kennel and nursery noise.  Employee is exposed to cleaning and antibacterial solutions in kennel.  Employee is exposed to animal dander, hair and fluids in confined areas such as vans and kennels.
