Every year, the Guide Dog Foundation hosts several special events. In addition, we are fortunate that many civic and charitable organizations host special events for our benefit; we receive a portion of the proceeds. COMMUNITY FRIEND-RAISING EVENTS
October 4, 2014 (Saturday) – “RUN THE FOREST 5K AND FITNESS EVENT” – Made possible by Asheville Eye Associates, this special event will start from the Carolina Day School in Asheville, North Carolina. The 5K will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Fitness Event to start at 10:30 a.m. To register online visit www.communityfitnessevents.com.
October 5, 2014 (Sunday) – “WALK FOR A GUIDE DOG” – The Lions Clubs of the Islips will host this annual event with proceeds to benefit the Guide Dog Foundation. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the East Islip Library with the walk to start at 9:30 a.m. Entrance fee to participate is $12. A free t-shirt will be given to the for the first 100 registrants. November 21, 2014 (Friday) - "GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION BENEFIT" - We are proud to be chosen to be honored by the Order of St John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller (Malta), one of the oldest Orders of Chivalry in existence today. The annual black tie gala hosted by the OSJ Commandery of New York is the highlight of their fund raising and social season, attracting guests from the NY-Metro area to celebrate and raise funds for their chosen charity. OSJ guests, Foundation donors, and graduates of the Foundation with their dogs are invited join us to celebrate and support the mission of the Guide Dog Foundation.
OSJ of New York's Holiday Gala will be held on November 21st 2014 at the Yale Club, Vanderbilt Avenue, New York City (across from Grand Central Terminal). All of the proceeds of the Gala (in excess of $ 50,000) will go to the Guide Dog Foundation, to help raise, train and place guide and service dogs with people with disabilities.
