A Yellow Labrador puppy in a Guide Dog Foundation Puppy Coat sits on an empty beach as seagulls fly overhead.

On Saturday and Sunday afternoons or evenings while class is in session, volunteers spend time with our blind and visually impaired students while the students are taking a break from training with their guide dogs. A volunteer takes a student—without his or her guide dog—on local, fun excursions. Activities range from a trip to the mall, to a walk along the beach, to going to the movies. Volunteers for this program must be at least 18 years old and must have a valid driver's license.

Hours of volunteering:
Saturday or Sunday afternoons, from 12 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., or evenings from 5 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., while a Guide Dog Foundation class is in session.

Orientation:
Volunteers must attend an orientation session prior to their first day of volunteering.
