Guide Dog Foundation Receives Top Ratings by Charity Watchdogs

March 18, 2005

Smithtown, NY – The Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc. recently received the highest rating by both the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance and Charity Navigator.

The evaluation by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance reveals that the Guide Dog Foundation has met all of the stringent standards for charitable accountability. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance collects and distributes information on hundreds of nonprofit organizations that solicit nationally or have national or international program services. It asks such organizations for information about their programs, governance, fund raising practices, and finances.

The Guide Dog Foundation was also recently awarded a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s premier evaluator of not for profit organizations. The rating is Charity Navigator’s highest and most prestigious, signifying that the Foundation outperforms most other charities in America in its efforts to efficiently manage its finances. Charity Navigator was founded to give donors the type of information they need to be more discriminating about the charities they choose to support. The organization provides the data needed to evaluate accountability, transparency and quantifiable results.
