Guide Dog Foundation Receives Four Stars
The Guide Dog Foundation was recently awarded a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator, Americas premier evaluator of not for profit organizations. The rating is Charity Navigators highest and most prestigious, signifying that the Foundation outperforms most other charities in America in its efforts to efficiently manage its finances. Since 1946, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind has provided guide dogs free of charge to people who are blind and are seeking enhanced mobility and independence.
The cost to complete the training of a guide dog/person team is over $30,000. This includes all expenses from breeding and raising the dog to training and matching it with a student. The Guide Dog Foundation is supported by donations from generous individuals, corporations and foundations, businesses, and service/fraternal clubs. The Foundation is proud of its reputation as a charitable organization and consistently receives high marks from charitable watchdog organizations, such as Charity Navigator.
